Joining STONZ

Fees and payment

Our fees are reviewed annually. From 1st April 2024 our fees are $483 per annum, or $241.50 for PGY1 House Officers & Associate Members.

Payment in full is required within 2 weeks of joining/renewal.

Our BNZ bank account number is 02-1268-0028287-000, this is confirmed on the membership invoice. Please include these details when making bank payments: Reference - invoice number, Particulars – Surname.

Alternatively, payment via credit card can be made through the website (be aware merchant fees are billed to the payer, on top of the invoice amount).

If you require a payment plan, please email support@stonz.co.nz and indicate whether you are requesting a monthly or fortnightly plan.

Monthly payments are direct to the STONZ bank account at 1/12th of the relevant membership fee (being $40.25 or $20.13).
Fortnightly payments are deducted from Te Whatu Ora payroll at 1/26th of the relevant membership fee, plus a $1 per payment administration fee ($19.58 or $10.29).

In line with our Membership Policy, new members will only be notified to Te Whatu Ora once payment has been received.

FYI - Under the Employment Relations Act 2000 (section 58)

“A member of a union who is bound by a collective agreement and who resigns as a member of the union but does not resign from his or her employment, may not be subject to any other bargaining for a collective agreement or bound by any other collective agreement until the 60th day before the expiry date of the collective agreement binding on the member before resigning as a member of the union.”

In simpler language if you sign up with STONZ and stay at the same District in the same role you cannot be covered by another SECA’s terms and conditions until 60 days before the expiry of our current collective. You can resign from STONZ at any stage and request an individual employment agreement.

With the formation of Te Whatu Ora, you can no longer change your terms and conditions when you move Districts.
