Note: Now that the NZRDA MECA has been ratified, if you were a member of the NZRDA on or after the 12.08.2019 you cannot be covered by the STONZ terms and conditions unless you rotate DHBs/change employer.

Should the applicant meet the criteria for being a member as per the Rules of the Specialty Trainees of New Zealand Society, filling in this form makes the applicant a member. An invoice for fees will be emailed out and payment advice is on our fees and payment page.
FYI - Under the Employment Relations Act 2000 (section 58)
“A member of a union who is bound by a collective agreement and who resigns as a member of the union but does not resign from his or her employment, may not be subject to any other bargaining for a collective agreement or bound by any other collective agreement until the 60th day before the expiry date of the collective agreement binding on the member before resigning as a member of the union.”
In simpler language if you sign up with STONZ and stay at the same DHB in the same role you cannot be covered by another MECA until October 2020. You can quit STONZ at any stage and go onto an individual employment agreement. You can also quit STONZ at any stage and join the RDA, but you cannot be covered by their MECA until October 2020.
If you quit STONZ and change DHB then you could sign up with the RDA and be covered by their MECA, and visa versa.
