Our recent Delegates Conference was an incredible success, bringing together passionate and committed representatives to shape the future of our work. The energy in the room was inspiring, and the discussions were both constructive and forward-thinking.
A key focus of the conference was working on our claims for our upcoming negotiations. Delegates engaged in robust conversations about priorities and strategies, ensuring we are well-prepared to advocate effectively in the next bargaining round.
We were privileged to hear from a lineup of outstanding speakers, including Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard and Richard Sullivan, who shared valuable insights and perspectives that resonated deeply with our members. Their contributions sparked meaningful dialogue and reinforced the importance of collaboration in achieving our goals.
The RDSS team provided an informative update on their workplan, outlining progress and future initiatives that will strengthen our collective efforts including centralised reimbursement of relocation costs, and direct payment of College fee’s. Their commitment to delivering tangible outcomes for RMOs was evident and greatly appreciated.
A highlight of the conference was our guest speaker, Professor Boyd Swinburn, who captivated us with his story of founding the first RMO union in New Zealand, which later evolved into the NZRDA and supporting the American RMO Unions. Boyd also spoke passionately about his ongoing advocacy through Health Coalition Aotearoa, the challenges with the current political landscape, reminding us of the power of persistence and vision in driving systemic change.
The conference was not only an opportunity to share knowledge and plan for the future but also a celebration of the dedication and unity that define what STONZ is all about. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this conference such a success.
